フリーソフトInterliner Scripture Analyzer について
以前から Interliner Scripture Analyzer (ISA3 basic)というフリープログラムを他の聖書研究のツールと併用していたのだが、最近そのプログラムの中で使われている聖書の翻訳バージョン（Concordant Literal Version 2.1 CLV)が独特の傾向をもつことに気が付き、また他のバージョンを追加することができない、つまりCLVしか使えないことを発見し、調べてみた所、このバージョンの翻訳を手掛けたAdolph Ernest Knochの神学的立場が、聖書的見解とは異なることを知った。例えば、地獄の教理の否定だとか、御子の神性と父なる神の神性が同等であることを否定しているというのである。
これは問題である。というのは、いくら「Literal 逐語」と謳っても、一つの単語には複数の意味があることが常であり、そのニュアンスの違いが文脈の中で大きな影響を及ぼすとき、「翻訳者の見解」は非常に重要な要素となるからである。つまり複数の選択肢の中から、「これが逐語、つまり原語に忠実な意味である」と選ぶのに、翻訳者の神学的見解が決定的要素となり得るのである。
キリストの神性の教義は、聖書の啓示の中でも核とも言える教義であるから、翻訳作業の過程における言葉の選択に必ず大きな影響をもたらすはずであると思い、個人的にキリストの神性を啓示する聖句に関して数か所、CLVの簡単なチェックをしてみたが、現段階で特に問題を感じる点は見つけられなかった。むしろ、ヨハネ１：１８においては「The only-begotten God」（ひとり子なる神）と訳していたりする。
God no one has ever seen. The only-begotten God, Who is in the bosom of the Father, He unfolds Him.

またヨハネ１０：１８において、CLVは以下の様に訳している。
No one is taking it away from Me, but I am laying it down of Myself. I have the right to lay it down, and I have the right to get it again. This precept I got from My Father.
【ἐξουσία exousia】の訳語に「right」（日本語で「権利」というニュアンスだろう）を選択しているが、この原語は 「force, capacity, competency, freedom, privilege, elegated influence, authority, jurisdiction, liberty, power, right, strength」と様々な意味を持っている。「right 権利」という言葉を選んだのは、おそらくその言葉に「付与」というニュアンスが含まれているから、「これはわたしの父から授かった定めである」という箇所によるのではないかと推測する。しかし「だれかが、わたしからそれを取り去るのではない。わたしが、自分からそれを捨てるのである。」という言葉に御子の自律性が啓示されているから、「power 力」とか「authority 権能」と訳する根拠も文脈上にある。

今後もさらにCLVに関して調べてみるつもりだが、もし読者の方でこのフリーソフトを利用している方がいるならば、是非、上述の翻訳者の神学的見解について念頭に置いて、絶えず他のバージョンと比較しながら利用するアプローチが賢明ではないかと思う。
